Ten Award for Excellence Finalists Named During Enshrinement Weekend
CANTON, OH -- (Marketwire) -- 10/01/12 -- Academics and sports go hand in hand. And, with the help of the U.S. Army's Award for Excellence program, community service and athletics, they can lead student athletes to parallel Army Strong Soldiers with a unique and similar set of strengths. The U.S. Army and Pro Football Hall of Fame partnered to create the Award for Excellence Program which highlights the accomplishments of our Nation's high school athletes who exemplify similar strengths to Army Strong Soldiers; and who not only excel athletically, but who also excel academically and are active in their communities. The 10 high school athlete finalists were announced last month. "Athletes and Army Strong Soldiers posses a unique and similar set of strengths," says retired Cincinnati Bengal and NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz. "I'm excited to recognize these outstanding sophomore and junior high school student-athletes who excel in their sport, excel academically and who embody the leadership qualities needed to succeed." The winner of the Award for Excellence will be announced January 4, 2013 at the All American Bowl. For more information, visit www.goarmy.com/AAB or www.profootballhof.com/Army.
