Murray to the distinguished class of premier professionals as a result of his phenomenal work in the financial services industry. As Director of the Environment and Social Development Department with the International Finance Corporation, as well as throughout his brilliant professional career, Mr. Murray has routinely demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be successful in the business world.

Gavin’s department is IFC’s center of innovation and leadership in environmental and social sustainability and risk mitigation. It is focused on improving the business performance of the corporation, its clients, and emerging markets which includes the facilitation of new business opportunities. Under Mr. Murray’s leadership, the department has been strengthened by the corporate decision to make the environmental and social role of IFC a core element of its strategy.

Prior to his appointment at IFC in March 2001, Mr. Murray was based in Canada as vice president for sustainability leadership at Placer Dome, a multinational gold mining company. He was also responsible for initiating the establishment of the World Alliance for Community Health, a private sector initiative formed in cooperation with the World Health Organization to develop and implement health projects through member company’s local operations.

During his collegiate career, Gavin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science and a Master’s degree in Land Resource Science from the University of Queensland. He has served as a director on the board of Kidston Gold Mines, a publicly listed company in Australia and also on the boards of the World Alliance for Community Health and the Australian Centre for Mining Environmental Research.
